Everyone can use a pin cushion so why not make one that is fun and decorative!! These look like little pillows and are made with wool felt. They are easy to make, require only a few materials, and make wonderful gifts for secret Santa’s, quilt guild buddies, and teachers. Wrap them in clear cellophane bags, attach a tape measure or scissors with a ribbon and you have a unique hostess gift. Supplies: Wool felt fat quarters Embroidery floss Embroidery needle Fiberfill Straight pins Instructions
Cut two rectangles of felt 4.75” wide x
6” tall for the body of each pin cushion. Cut out felt shapes for each
pin cushions. Draw your own shapes or find them in coloring books, magazines,
or quilting books. Pin the shapes to one of the rectangles.
Blanket stitch around the felt shapes using two strands of embroidery floss. Add embellishments to the designs such as buttons,
or flowers. Match the front and back of each pin cushion and
pin them together. Trim the corners to make rounded edges. Blanket stitch around the outside edges of the pin
cushion. Leave an opening at the bottom but do not cut the embroidery floss. Stuff the pin cushion with fiberfill. Finish
blanket stitching the opening at the bottom of the pin cushion. Fill with pins and/or needles. |
