Decorative Soaps

Expecting Summer Guests?  Here is a fun project to welcome your guests into your home. Place these soaps in your guest room along with extra toothpaste, nail file, shampoo, and other items they may have forgotten.  Personalize the soaps for your guests by adding buttons, miniature gardening tools, metal letters, and other embellishments that match their personality. Purchase small bars of soap or use the bars that you have collected from previous hotel stays.

Materials

Small soap bars

Decorative Papers of your choice

Ribbons that coordinate with the papers

Embellishments such as buttons, metal letters,
 shells, and miniature gardening tools

Glue dots

Double sided tape

Decorative edged scissors

Hot glue gun

Paper trimmer

Instructions

1. Cut paper strips about 2" wide and long enough to wrap around your bar of soap. Cut a second paper strip of a different color about 1 3/4" wide.  Trim the long edges of the smaller paper strip with decorative scissors.

2. Wrap the paper strips around the soap bar and secure the ends with double stick tape.

3. Tie a piece of ribbon around the soap and centered on the smallest paper strip.  Tie the ribbon into a bow at the top of the soap bar.

4. Hot glue buttons or other embellishments to the bow.

5. Create a message such as WELCOME on your computer and print it out. Trim the paper and attach the message to the soap.

For additional projects...Wrap the same papers around small bottles of shampoo, a small hair brush, or a loufa sponge.
