Outdoor Plant Sculptures

Create a beautiful plant sculpture for your patio with “found” objects. You may already have something hanging around your house that will work.  All you need to get started is an interesting frame. Add some wire or wicker containers, moss, twigs, and stick wreaths. Then fill the containers with potting soil and plants.

Instructions

1.      Choose an interesting frame from your plant sculpture.

2.      Combine objects to create the base if needed.

3.      Here are two different size plant stands that are stacked together to make a base for the sculpture.  Attach the smaller stand to the lower stand with heavy wire.

4.      Add containers and a twig wreath.

5.      Fill the containers with moss. Wet the moss and apply it to the sides of the container. Fill the center of each container with potting soil. Pull a twig wreath or garland apart and wrap the containers and base with the twigs.

6.      Fill the containers with plants.

7.      Water as needed.

Another Variation

How about starting with an iron wash stand? Think of the possibilities!

Remove the basin from the sink. Fill the basin with a coconut plant liner. Rest the base of the liner on the cross bars of the sink stand. Cut the liner to fit the opening if it is too large. Add a twig wreath around the top of the sink and on the bottom shelf.  Fill with plants.
