Batting Instructions
1. Measure the height of the inside of the basket. Add
2 1/2 inches to this measurement.
2. Measure the inside top edge of the basket. Add
1 inch to this measure.
3. Place the basket on top of a piece of heavy cardboard and trace around it with a pen. Cut out the cardboard shape.
4. Stack four layers of cotton batting and trace
around the cardboard shape. Cut
out the batting.
5. Hot glue the batting to the cardboard.
6. Cut out a piece of fabric that is about 1
1/2 inches larger than the cardboard shape on all sides.
7. Place the batting side of the cardboard on
top of the wrong side of the fabric. Hot
glue the edges of the fabric onto the back of the cardboard. When all the edges are hot glued, turn the
cardboard over to see the finished piece.
8. Cut a piece of fabric using the measurements
from step one and two. Hem
the top edge and one side edge of the fabric.
9. Hot glue the hemmed edge of the fabric to
the inside top edge of the basket. Use
your finger to press the fabric into the glue.
10. Overlap the ends of the fabric and then glue
the fabric together along the side seam.
11. Adjust
the fabric in the bottom of the basket so it lays evenly
around the sides.
12. Put a generous amount of hot glue in the
bottom of the basket. Set the
covered cardboard piece in the bottom of the basket and hold it in
place until the glue hardens.
13. Tie ribbon onto the handle of the basket. Fill the basket with yard and knitting needles. |
