Easter Egg Table Decorations

Add a little elegance and color to your dining table with these three easy Easter projects.  Gather a few Easter eggs, some Styrofoam shapes, and a bag of sheet moss and you will be ready to start your project.

Materials

14” Styrofoam wreath

4” x 9” Styrofoam cone (topiary)

4” Styrofoam half ball (candleholder)

Hot glue gun and glue sticks

Decorated Easter eggs (with hard foam centers)

Sheet moss

Wooden Stick (topiary)

Metal bucket (topiary)

Instructions

  1. Cut the Easter eggs in half with a band saw.  If you do not have a band saw you can use a serrated knife. Cut some of the eggs in half lengthwise and some crosswise. You will need approximately 32 egg halves for the wreath.

  1. Hot glue egg halves onto the foam wreath. They will adhere better if you put the hot glue on the back of the egg and then stick the egg onto the wreath.  Arrange the eggs in random patterns and directions over the top and sides of the wreath.

  1. Hot glue moss to the wreath between the eggs. After the glue is dry, use your finger to press the moss away from the eggs so that more of each egg is exposed. Hint: the moss will be easier to work with if you spray it with water before to start.  This will soften it and make it more pliable.

  1. Add a ribbon to the back of the wreath if you want to hang it or make it the centerpiece for your table by placing a glass candle holder in the center of the wreath.

For the candleholder

  1. Press a candle into the center top of the foam ball.  Cover the ball with small eggs.  Hot glue each egg in place.

  1. Glue moss between each of the eggs.

For the Topiary

  1. Repeat steps 1, 2, and 3 for the wreath.  Cover the cone shape with eggs and moss.  Fill a metal bucket with Styrofoam and cover the top of the foam with moss. Push a wooden stick or twig into the bottom of the foam cone and then into the bucket.  Tie a piece of ribbon around the twig and place a few eggs in the top of the bucket.
