Dorm Clocks

Here
is a fun and easy way to dress up a college dorm room. You can find pre-cut wooden letters and
clock components in most craft stores. Add some paint and a few numbers and in no “time”
you will be hanging it on the wall.
Materials
Wooden Letters
Acrylic Paint
Clock Components
Number Stickers
AA Battery
Craft or Wood Glue
Electric Drill and Bits
Small Screws
3” Wooden Disc
Gloss Spray Varnish
Instructions

1. Paint the wooden letters and the wooden
disc to match your school colors. Let the paint dry. Spray the letters with gloss varnish.

2.Arrange the letters in a pleasing
design and glue in place.

3.
Glue the wooden disc to the back of the letter where you will place the clock
components. Let it dry.

4. Turn the letters over and drill small holes where the letters overlap. Place a screw in each hole.
5. Drill a hole through the center of the wooden disc and through the letter. Place the clock component into the hole and
assemble as directed on the clock packaging.
If the shank is too short to accommodate the first nut, glue the black
clock component to the letter with wood glue.
Glue the washer to the front of the letter around the shank to cover
the hole and give a nice finish to the clock.

6. Attach the hands to the front
of the clock.

7. Adhere the small sticker numbers to the
front of the letters.

8. Place a battery in the clock and watch it go!!
Optional: To add more interest to the clock, outline
the letters with a silver or gold metallic pen.
