Decorative Desk Organizers
Projects created and presented on AM Northwest by Deborah Spofford

Organize and decorate your desk at the same time with three beautiful
storage projects. Make a letter tray to hold mail, a memory box to
hold note cards and pens, and a magnet frame to display family photos.
Use scrapbook papers and three dimensional stickers to add a personal
touch to each project.
Letter Tray

Materials
8” x 13” wooden tray

Paper trimmer

Instructions
1. Paint the wooden tray with acrylic paint.
2. Cut a piece of the elements paper to fit in the bottom of the tray.
Cut two pieces of the dot paper 2” x 7 ¼” and two
pieces 2” x 12”.
3. Decoupage the papers to the bottom of the tray and to the outer sides
of the tray. Let dry.
4. Adhere a three dimensional frame to the center of each long side of
the tray.
5. Add two more small stickers on each side of the frames.
6. Tie a ribbon bow on one of the tray handles.
Magnet Photo Frame

Materials
11 ½” square wooden frame with a 7” opening and 2” frame
width

5” x 8” magnetic canvas – two
8” square white foam core board
Double stick tape

Instructions
1. Paint the frame with acrylic paint.
2. Cut the magnetic canvas to fit the 8” square foam core board.
Glue the magnet sheets to the board.
3. Cut an 8” square of each of the decorative papers.
4. Glue one of the papers to each side of the foam core board.
5. Adhere double stick tape to the corners of the diamond paper. Place
the foam core board into the frame.
6. Adhere the border stickers to the left and right sides of the frame.
7. Adhere a three dimensional frame to the top center of the frame.
8. Adhere a Clearly Yours “Celebrate” sticker to the bottom
center of the frame.
9. Fill the remaining frames with family pictures. Adhere each frame
to a piece of decorative paper that is ¼” larger in all
directions. Trim the papers with scallop scissors.
10. Glue a magnet to the back of each frame and place them in the magnetic
frame.

½” wide yellow satin ribbon – 1 yard

Instructions
1. Paint the wooden box with cactus green acrylic paint. Paint the wooden
candle cups with rosette pink acrylic paint.
2. Cut the peach dots decorative paper into four pieces: 2” x
9 ¼” (two), 2” x
6 ¾:” (two)
3. Decoupage the peach dots papers to lower outsides edges of the
box.
4. Cut a piece of the pink print and the aqua dots papers
8 ½” x
6 1/8”. (same size as the foam core board)
5. Fold the pink ribbon in half and glue the ends to one side of the
foam core board. The loop side of the ribbon should hang over the edge
of the
board 2
inches. Glue the pink floral paper on top of the ribbon side of the foam
core board. Glue the aqua dots paper to the back side of the board.
6. Cut a piece of peach diamond paper 5” x 4 ½” and a piece
of the aqua dots paper 4 ½” x 3 ½”. Layer
and glue these to the center of the pink print side of the core board.
7. Adhere a photo frame to the center of the layered papers.
8. Place the foam core board into the glass lid of the box. Be sure to
let the ribbon loop hang to the inside of the box. Pull the loop to remove
the
core board when you want to change the photo.
9. Cut the floral borders to fit each side of the box. Adhere them to
the center of the dot papers on the lower part of the box.
10. Cut out small flowers and leaves from the remaining pieces of border.
Adhere them to the top of the glass.
11. Layer and glue the yellow and peach ribbons to the center outside
edges of the lid. Tie a peach bow and glue it to the box above the latch.
12. Glue the candle cups to the bottom corners of the box.
