Accent pillows can bring a room together
and add softness to your home furnishings. Chenille
fabrics and trims are very popular again for home decorating. This
project brings both of these together. Create

Machine Paper: 8” square Note: Supplies are available at Craft Warehouse Instructions
1.
Place an 8 inch square piece of paper in the center
of the front pillow piece. Lightly
trace around the paper with a pencil. Center
the star design from the Swirlygig pattern
packet in the middle of the square and lightly trace.
2.
Remove the tear-away backing from the Chenille by
the Inch™. Hint: It is easier to pull the backing off from
the middle and work your way down and up. This
will keep the stitching from coming out of the chenille strips.
3.
Cut the chenille into strips with a rotary cutter. See
packaging for cutting instructions.
4.
Machine stitch the chenille strips to the pattern
on the pillow front. Be sure to
back stitch at the beginning and end of each piece. Overlap the pieces as one ends and another
begins.
5.
Press the back side of the pillow to flatten the
chenille and smooth out the pillow front.
6.
Spray the sewn chenille trim with water. Brush the trim vigorously with the chenille
brush to fluff. Continue to brush
the chenille until all is fluffed.
7.
Pin and sew the ruffle trim onto the front pillow
piece. Pin the back pillow piece
to the front (right sides together) and follow the trim stitch lines
as a guide. Leave an opening in
one side of the pillow to insert the pillow form.
8.
Turn the pillow right sides out. Insert the pillow form into the pillow. Hand
stitch the opening closed. © Deborah Spofford Designs 2003 |
