Water container

Small bucket

Grout comb

Knife or spatula

Acrylic paint

Paint brush

Spray varnish

Canvas Boards

Instructions

  1. Mix patching compound to a consistence of sour cream.

  1. Cover the entire canvas board including the sides with patching compound.  This is like frosting a cake.  It is fun and a little messy.  When the canvas board is cover with patching compound, begin dragging the grout comb over the board to create different designs. If you don’t have a grout comb us a hair comb and snip the teeth to create a pattern.  Extend the design over the edges and onto the sides.  The compound will begin to harden with in about 10 minutes so you have time to rework you design if you need too.  Once the compound starts to dry it will get chunky so work quickly to get a smooth finish.  Let dry.

  1. Paint with acrylic paints. Spray the board with varnish when the acrylic paint is dry.

See photos below for additional design Ideas
