Embellishments
If you need a last minute
centerpiece or candle grouping for the holidays you will find several
ideas below. Many of the embellishments you may already have in your
home or in your paper crafting supplies. *Never leave burning candles unattended* Ribbon Wrap Choose a piece of holiday
ribbon. Measure around the center of the candle and add 1 ½ inches.
Cut the ribbon and wrap it around the candle. Fold one end of the
ribbon under to create a finished edge. Use double- stick tape to
secure the ribbon ends. Place
the candle in the center of fresh or artificial greens. Variation 1 to Ribbon Wrap Wrap the candle with
ribbon. Push upholstery tacks through the ribbon and into the candle. Note: Upholstery
tacks can be found in a variety of colors and sizes. Variation 2 to Ribbon Wrap Press star brads through
the ribbon and into the candle. Add additional brads around the top
and bottom of the candle. These brads are found in the scrapbooking
section of most craft stores. They are available in many different
colors, shapes, and sizes. Variation 3 to Ribbon Wrap Attach miniature ornaments
to the ribbon with glue dots. Eyelet Embellished Candle Eyelets are very popular
with scrapbookers. Look for holiday designs
like the snowflakes shown above. Simply press the eyelet shank into
the candle. Spread the eyelets randomly over the candle. Silver Tree Candle The silver trees on this candle are eyelet
charms. Attach the charms to the candle with jeweled brads and decorative
push pins. Gold Filigree Candle Attach gold filigree
charms to the candle with decorative push pins or upholstery tacks.
Sequin Candle Attach square sequins
to the candle in a random pattern. Use short ball headed pins to hold
them in place. Note: This is just one example of the fun sequins that you can use on your candles.
Look in your sewing
box or scrapbooking supplies for sequins
you may have forgotten you have! Garland Wrap Bend a small piece of
wire into a U shape. Place the wire over the garland thread at one
end and push it into the candle. Wrap the garland around the candle
and secure the other end of the garland with another piece of wire.
Note: Look
for miniature garlands. They are available in many different styles.
