Create this blanket in less than one hour.  It’s quick, it’s easy, and it’s functional.  Use a vinyl table cloth for the backing and it is waterproof.  The dirt and sand will brush right off.

Materials

1 ¾ yards of fabric with a beach theme print

One vinyl table cloth: 52 x 70 that coordinates with your fabric

2 yards of 1 ½” wide ribbon

Thread

Scissors

Sewing machine

Straight pins

Instructions

Prepare.   Unfold the table cloth and lay it on your cutting table.  Lay the fabric on top of the table cloth.  Cut the table cloth to match the size of the fabric.

Prepare to sew.   Position the table cloth and fabric together with right sides together.  Pin around all sides.

Insert ribbons.  Cut the ribbon in half making two pieces that are each one yard long.  Fold each piece of ribbon in half and insert them between the table cloth and fabric.  Pin the ribbons in place.   See diagram for placement of ribbons
